Hi Jonathan ,
I don`t know the md 1-cells, but this is how I thread my accus:
Do you know the capacity of the cells? -general rule:
Load Ni-Cd 14 hours with a current of the capacity/10h . This is the slow but
save way.
( e.g. 500mAh: - > 500 mAh/10h = 50 mA ;"400f the loading ernergy will be
lost")
This is normal loading. With good cells, a modern charger can speed this up
(fast loading: higher current, less time -> different pairs of values are
possible).
But then you`ve to be carefull. Too much (time), or too fast, and your cells
can be damaged.

Experience with my sample: Wide open: sharp, with moderate contrast. noticeable
edge fall off.
At F5.6: shap and amazingly contrasty lens, edge fall of no more noticeable.
