Was it for film?
Creeping size changes mess up all the stuff around it. I expect several
sizes to be standardised on, then improvements made within the size.
The new oly size seems to be equivalent in quality now to the original 35mm
Leica film size in the 20's.
Pro's may stick to larger sizes, at least where camera size less important.
