I have a Bogen 3021 with a large pan head. I almost bought the Bogen
strap, and later I nearly bought the Bogen case.
Then I found one of the larger aluminum and nylon folding lounge chairs
made for camping. It came with a very nice heavy nylon case with a wide
shoulder strap. Even has a zippered pocket on the side. It was just the
right size for my Bogen tripod with the pan head. Extra QR plates,
including the angle one, fit in the zippered pocket. Price? On sale for
$12. The chair is on a shelf in the garage. We use it if there are too
many guests for all the chairs normally in the house, and my Bogen now has
a decent case with a shoulder strap.

I nearly bought the Manfrotto strap Donald, but I saw an Optech in my
favourite Cambridge camera shop (Campkins - it isn't cheap though!) and
bought that. It has the plastic locking fasteners to make a ring at each
end which goes wherever you want it to on the tripod. Carrying the tripod
is still a chore as it is heavy and the 141RC head is heavier than the
other end... so, I bought a Midi ball head last week and that makes it
much more manageable. A major plus with the ball head is that it has no
levers sticking out so far... and it is lighter, and it is easier to
manipulate etc...

When I bought my 055NAT2 (3221GN) tripod it included a wide strap, to fit on
the little ring on the 'pod. I've tried it several ways and at quite a few
lengths, but it seems a singularly useless item to me.
Any comments?
Donald.
