I've had the exact opposite experience. When Carsen was still handling the
OM line, you were forced to go through them for parts. Olympus USA wouldn't
even talk to you, they just re-directed you to Carsen. If Carsen didn't
have the part in stock, you had to convince them to order it for you from
Olympus USA (and that wasn't always easy!). Once they got it, they re-packed
it, added a markup, and then sent it to you. These days I can talk directly
to Olympus USA and get parts (usually cheaper) in under a week. From my
perspective, the switch to Olympus USA has been great! Maybe the problem lies
with the local store you're dealing with.
