Actually, if John H. was trying to drum up business, he would be telling us to
try this at home :-) It makes for a much more expensive repair in the end!
Besides all the reasons already stated for not doing it, another good reason
is that you'll probably end up scratching or somehow damaging the retaining
fittings if you don't have the proper tools for removal. I always look for
such evidence when buying a used body. If I see anything that resembles an
unprofessional repair job, I either walk away or offer significantly less.
There's nothing worse than trying to undo someone elses mess (it's tough
enough undoing my messes :-).
