Mike, I just got a 180mm f2.8 and as many others on this list have done, I've long ago let go of the question "Do I really need it." This really is a spectacular lens. It is sharp and really allows you to work in low light situations. The 65-200 and 35mm f2 each live in my kit. If the choice is between the 180mm, 35mm or new tripod . . . go for the 180mm. Now in the realm of need . . . you do need a sturdy tripod, but only after you take care of this want. Bill Barber |
