Thanks for the advice about not spraying contact cleaner into the shoe
socket of an OM-2.

After reflecting, I realized that the inside of the socket may not be sealed
from the top of the pentaprism. Not knowing how it's constructed, I agree
that it would be foolish indeed to risk disolving the pentaprism silvering
with contact cleaner.

I forgot to mention that I can use the T-32 in Normal Auto mode at f4 with
EI 100 film but not at the other settings. (In tests, I didn't get correct
exposure at the other settings. I tested the OTF and Normal Auto modes
before I went on vacation. Cruelly, it passed the test roll for OTF but
failed during vacation.)

I guess I wasn't thinking clearly when I ran a test roll without cleaning
the contacts on ANY of the surfaces. Dumb, dumb, dumb especially when I was
basically pulling the camera and flash out of mothballs. In addition, both
shoes were NIB, ie hadn't been cleaned since they were built!) I'm thinking
of using 91 0enatured alcohol and a cotton swab (Q-Tip).

[I'll try the 1mm shim idea on the front of the shoe although if a pin was
too short, the shim would aggrevate, not alleviate. Since it works for
some, maybe it's a tipping problem that the shim fixes?]

Anyway, the test roll last month was okay in OTF mode, and at f4 in Normal
Auto but not at the other f stop settings with Normal Auto. (Yes, I
adjusted the lens aperture when I changed the aperture selection on the
T-32, and I had the camera set to 1/60th and "Manual" when doing the Normal
Auto checks. Naturally, the OM-2 was set to "Auto" when testing the OTF
mode.)

Anyway, thanks for the thoughts and I agree that it's one for a professional
repairperson at this point. I plan on sending all of the shoes, the TTL
cord, the T-32 and the OM-2 for evaluation.

What do you guys think about storing the flash with the Shoe3 attached
instead of removing the shoe and storing it separately? It feels less
likely to be lost/bent it it's on the flash and it's one less disconnection
that can get dirty. (?)

I'm kinda eager to get this fixed because the 100mm w/ flash combination
makes a nice quickie portrait setup. Nicer snapshots than snapshots if you
know what I mean. :)

All the best,

Jim L'Hommedieu
