I have ever been a hand-wringer or turn-the-other-cheek, touchy-feely,
love-thy-enemy wuss. I guess it's a personal failure. Quite frankly, I
don't give a rat's ass (or arse, if you prefer) that these terrorists feel
justified or not. That's truly an absurd rationalization. Hitler felt
justified, too, I'm sure.
Agreed.
Whoever is responsible for what happened in NYC and DC is my enemy, and I
want every one of them dead, along with those who allow them a safe haven
from which to operate. "My friend's friend is my friend, and my enemy's
friend is my enemy," I believe is how it goes, and the Taliban in
Afghanistan, despite their cowardly denials, gives Bin Laden a home base,
so I would be more than happy to see that country bombed back to the Stone
Age (which would not take much, since they aren't far from it anyway).
Agreed.
If you've got a vicious dog that attacks my children and you let him live
under your porch, I'll burn your house down, with you in it, to get rid of
that dog. The same goes for Afghanistan. Whether or not Bin Laden is
behind this attack, he's due for extermination for many reasons. Unlike
so many of today's politically correct apologists, I am not the tiniest
bit sorry that we nuked Hiroshima and Nagasaki to end World War II, and I
am still pissed that Bush the Elder didn't let us continue on into Baghdad
and finish the job there 10 years ago. Bombs away is what I say! Let God
sort 'em out.
Agreed. This leads directly back to my comment yesterday where I wondered
out loud if our public and government are up to this resolution. There
really is no other way. I also wonder that if America is up to what it
will take then if this effort will enjoy international cooperation (beyond
our British friends, who may always be counted on in times of crisis) or
run amok amid the curious and polyglot interests prevailing in today's
political climate.
No matter, America needs to march surely forward and deal with these forces
of terrorism once and for all. Could we hope to eradicate each and every
cell? Hardly. But we must send the unmistakable message that when we find a
pocket of terrorism we will shirk at no effort to root it out as thoroughly
and as ruthlessly as our country's resources allow.
Hand wringing, talk of these events being ultimately "our" fault no longer
serve this society's interest of survival. We directly confront forces
which would gladly see us dead. It is past time we struck back with even
greater measure.
