A more robust shoe would have been useful (although I have never had
a problem of cracking etc...), but then the weaker part of the
ensemble might have been the camera. It is better that the shoe go
in a fall than the pentaprism - at least that is what I reckon the
thinking was. Of course, this does not suit us now that it is mostly
secondhand and in short(er) supply.

BTW, I've used a T-32 in a Shoe 4 and it does require some care in
use, and I agree the removable shoe should have been sturdier.
