No, I actually do own a shoe for the OM-2, just never use it. I see no point in
carrying the shoe or TTL connector when I am not carrying a flash. In addition,
if one wants basic flash sync there is always
the pc socket. The shoe could be more durable, but again, many a camera with a
durable hot shoe has had a damaged prism housing when a big flash was mounted.
It is a lot cheaper to replace a broken hot shoe
than a camera body. There is probably a point of balance there, between shoe
durability and protecting the camera body.
Mine has lasted as long as the camera body. :)
