I'm always taking pot shots at the performance of the 40mm f/2 Zuiko.
Look at what I snuck into the Lens Test page under point and shoots. A
pretty good little rangefinder with none other than a 40mm lens. They
made this about the same time as the Minolta CLE with the 40mm f/2
Minolta Hi-Matic 7 S II w/ 40mm f/1.7 Rokkor (multi-layer coating)
using self timer
Vignetting = B- @ f/1.7, A- @ f/2.8, A thereafter
Distortion = none
Aperture Center Corner
f/1.7 B C
f/2.8 A- B-
f/4 A- B
f/5.6 A- B+
f/8 B+ B
f/11 B+ B
f/16 B B
Notes: Low contrast images at f/1.7; moderate contrast images at f/2.8
and f/16; moderately high contrast images at f/4, f/8 and f/11; high
contrast images at f/5.6, which is the optimum aperture.
