I have this Tamron 500mm and don't know what "controls" you are talking
about. One of them is the lens release button. A smaller 4mm button is the
one you push to remove the Adaptall mount from the lens itself. There is also
a third spoon shaped projection that is used to convey the aperture of the
lens to the Oly body. This has to fit in a slot in the lens in order for the
correct information to be conveyed. This is probably what you adjusted.
On Olympus cameras, the lens does not send information about the actual
aperture set but only how many f stops the lens has been stopped down. If the
keying device was not in its proper slot, the exposure would not be correct
on manual but would be on automatic. To attach the adaptall mount to the
lens, match up the green dots, make sure the aperture keying device is in the
proper place, and turn until it clicks.
