Some time ago with encouragement from list members I acquired an OM
Adaptall 2 mount to fit to a Tamron SP 500mm lens which I had been given
(lucky me!). I have been trying it out recently and am very pleased with my
initial attempts to photograph butterflies in the garden (yard to US
members?) using my OM2SP and a Slik 88 tripod.
However, I had had to accept that the camera did not appear to
'know' that the lens was f/8 and hence gave no exposure data in the
viewfinder, and could not therefore be used on manual, only on auto. I have
now discovered that moving some of the available 'controls' on the outside
of the Adaptall 2 before fitting it to the camera results in sensible
readings in the viewfinder for both manual and auto settings. But I am not
sure exactly what I did! Can anyone point me in the direction of
instructions for setting up the lens/adaptall 2 before attaching it to the
camera so that I can use the spot facility?
I must say that I find the combination of camera and lens pleasantly
compact for a 500mm lens and am happy to rely on using the tripod mounting
point on the lens alone without a separate support for the camera.
TIA
