This thread has been nagging at me since I started reading it. I bought a new
40 F2 a number of years ago. It came in one of those leather cases and did
not have a lens hood with it. The lens hood, if any, would have to be very
small. The way the aperture ring is treaded, it was, IMHO, never designed to
take a lens hood. Also, the use of a filter other than Olympus will bind up
the aperture ring if screwed all the way in.
On a lens this wide and this small, a lens hood seems superfluous. The beauty
of this lens is its size and its close focusing ability. Great for flowers
and nature.
The idea that a lens shade could be for a 40 and 85 strikes me as absurd
until I think about it. After that, it sinks into impossible.
That's my $, 02
