The focal length of the diopter close up lens is the maximum focussing
distance when istalled on the camera. A 1 diopter is 1 meter, a 2 diopter is
500mm, etc.
I have the iS/L series 40 cm and 13 cm lenses. They are very sharp. You do
not need Nikon. These lenes are 49mm threads. The 40cm lens for the iS 3000
is 55mm.
Hoya single element lenses are of poor quality.
