Ken's right. The current version of the Tamron is IF. Tamron's first 300 F2.8 
was not IF or reputedly as sharp as the current version. Both lenses were 
advertised as using LD glass and came with the 1.4 teleconvertor. Both types 
show up on e-Bay frequently. Gary Faulkenberry
