I like to use the base of an OM leather ever-ready case to get a better
grip on. I found one of the real nice brown leather ones at a swap meet
for $2.00. It also protects the base/back of the body too. It's a lot
smaller than a Winder, and provides about the same gripping surface as an
OM-3/4 Grip.

I have always found the body of my OM2n difficult to grip when my
favourite lens (aVivitar 28 to 105 2.8 S1) is attached. It is fine with
winder 2 attached, but this makes the camera rather heavy to carry all day.
The other day I found in the junk bin at my local camera store a faulty
winder2 for £5, do I repair it? It only has a sticky shutter release. No
I already have a winder 2, I don't need 2 so I have stripped all the works
out, The empty case only weighs 45 grams, and with this attached to the
OM2n the handling is so much better.
I hope you don't think I am a vandal for doing this, but I have a cheap
handgrip and a bag of spare parts for my winder2.
