The old Nikon leather straps came with little thin, triangle (sort of) shaped pieces of leather that went over the split ring before the strap went on, and they protected the camera finish fairly well. This is the sort of strap that came on the OM-3T that I had for a few months. I'm surprised a brand-new OM-4T wouldn't have it.
