Hi Acer,
You've gotten very sound advice here from others, but I was
cringing when I heard your request to "hurry" with our advice. This, IMO, is
the WRONG way to make such a purchase decision. It's kind of like- "Should I
buy the Chevy or the Ford sport utility vehicle?" You will get technically
correct answers from both sides of the aisle, and a LOT of personal feelings.
You should first decide what camera body will serve YOU better in the
near and not so near future, from a technical (features) and a personal
(ergonomics, price) standpoint. Analyze what we tell you, then take some time
to decide, and of course, you should actually hold and use BOTH bodies,
again, a vehicle comparison- take a test drive!
There's probably a good chance the list member with the 2SP will give
you time to decide and/or return the camera if you don't like it? The OM-4
for $300 in BGN condition is nothing too special, there will be others
certainly available if you take too much time deciding and it's no longer
available. If it was MINT or something, THEN you may have to act fast, IMO.
Feature-wise, they're both very good, but for slightly different
reasons. The 2SP may have spare parts problems in future, as may the 4 (as
opposed to a 4Ti). The 4 may be a battery hog, is KEH willing to let you use
it for a long enough time to see if that's the case?, probably they're not.
Sometimes warranty and/or return priviledges are slim or none on something
advertised as "bargain". (Not speaking about KEH specifically).
IMO, I kinda agree with the poster who said to consider a used
OM-4Ti, there are many in the $500- $700 range, and I know it's double what
you can spend on your present choice, but I agree that it may satisfy your
needs for a long time, and you may never need to buy another body.
If you HAD to choose NOW, I'd say buy the 2SP from the list member.
The program mode is very nice if you hand your camera from time to time, to
say, a family member to take a shot. You only have to worry about someone
else having to focus, which is why my OM-PC (or OM-77) goes to more family
outings and vacations, and the 4Ti goes with me to more "serious" photo
trips. If you decide you'd like a 4 or 4Ti, take more time and get a good
4Ti, new or used. Only YOUR needs and future plans (such as staying with the
OM system) can decide, we can't do it for you.
Good Luck,
George S.
