Hi,
My experience is with the Vivitar Series 1 28-90 and 28-105. They are
very reasonable on the used market. (Price was also a concern of the orig.
poster)
The 28-90 is generally considered the better performer, which I can affirm.
I also obtained recently, for a very reasonable price, (but haven't
used it yet) a Tokina 28-85 (3.5 -4.5) with macro of 1:3.9
I've also heard about the Kiron being very well built and giving very
good results.
Also- believe it or not- one of my sharpest lenses in that range is
the Olympus 70-210 AF for the OM-77. I didn't see this coming, it was a
pleasant surprise! I also agree that the Zuiko 75-150 is nice and convenient
(size, weight, range), but _generally_ not up to Zuik standards of sharpness,
in my experience.
You should have a vast choice to pick from in these ranges (third party).
Good Luck
George S.
