In my opinion, this statement is nonsense. Olympus made and makes very good
telephotos (the 1000mm for example has an apochromatic front group and the
300mm has a left chromatic abberation of 10 percent) and they were cheaper
(till middle of the eighties) than the equivalent lenses by other original
manufacturers. Maybe the statement means, that there are no bright long
telephotos like 400mm 1:2,8 or 600mm 1:4 or similar.
