Just make sure that you get REPLACEMENT coverage, and not some other
coverage that might assume some depreciated value. I had about $8000 worth
of telescope and camera equipment stolen about a year ago, and my insurance
company went out to find the replacement cost - with my suggestions where
to go - on the equipment and then used that as the figure to reimburse me.
This included tax! Of course, I had receipts for everything - including
those for a used OM-1n, and some lenses. Everything has since been
replaced. It was really quite a hassle, but it was worth the $300 or so a
year renters insurance.
