As the saying goes, 'it can be done'.
I was previously working in the public relations department of a major
telecommunications company in Australia, and regularly booked
professional photographers to come and shoot stuff (product launches,
contract signings and the like) for general media distribution and/or
the company newspaper. All I usually required were 6x4s or 7x5s in
colour.
The thing was, these guys were turning in work of the same standard I
would be able to myself, given my knowledge and ability and equipment.
For newsprint reproduction, it really doesn't matter if the shot was
taken with an EOS-1 or an OM-1. I would have done more of the
photography myself, but my role at the various functions was a
'corporate' one and you have to concentrate one or the other on those
occasions.
The message is, I suppose, look for every opportunity and there are many
in the corporate sector.
Regards,
Steve
