Hey Frank,
I was at Radio Shack the other day looking at parts to make this jury
rigged external battery holder and I started to get curious as to why you
use a
set up that provides more than 3 volts which you then have to step down?
Why not just use a couple of AA batteries and get exactly 3 volts? Is it
because
(1) you like having a larger longer life battery?
(2) you are trying to compensate for any volatage drop that may occur
in cold weather (is this really a problem if it's inside your jacket?)
(3) all of the above
(4) none of the above
I was curious since Radio Shack has a nice little battery holder that has
space for 2 AA batteries and a lead coming out.
