Hi all:
I just got off the phone with Scott at Photosphere in Dallas. He's a
very nice guy, and very willing to answer questions. He reports that
Photosphere still has circuits in stock for the following cameras:
OM-PC (!)
OM-2S (!!)
XA, XA-3, XA-4 (none for XA-2, though).
Thus, the "reports of the death of the -2S and -PC have been much
exaggerated".
As Jim reported, the cost of replacing a -4 circuit with a -4T circuit
runs around $300. If your OM-4T goes bad, it still costs around $250.
Interesting trivia: Scott says that they would NOT replace OM-4
circuits with new OM-4 circuits, even if they could still get them.
This is because it is much more labor intensive to replace an OM-4
circuit. The OM-4T circuit is simplified, with less than half the
number of wires of an OM-4 circuit.
Other useful info:
It would cost more to convert an OM-4 to an OM-4T (with super FP flash
sync) than it would cost to buy a used OM-4T (4 boards instead of two
are required, plus a new hotshoe and lots of extra labor). Thus,
Photosphere won't do this conversion.
The new replacement case parts for the T-32 are a powder or flat black,
like the -4Ti, so if you get a new battery compartment, you have a
two-tone flash :)
Cheers,
--Lee
