Absolutely true. Excluding the last two numbers in a serial number string
makes it difficult for someone to walk into a police station here in Canada
and swear out a complaint stating that they just had one-hundred Zuiko
300mm f/4.5 lenses stolen from them, with serial numbers in the
oh-so-convenient range of XXXX00 to XXXX99. ;-)
Besides, the last two numbers are virtually irrelevant in discussions
centreing around manufacturing date, etc., unless of course your
manufacturer only made 100 lenses in the last twenty years.
