>>Anybody's using Gitzo carbon fibers? Wooden?>>
I have a Gitzo carbon fiber tripod with the magnesium head. That's the
lightest one (I'm writing this at work so I can't recall the model).
When I got it I tried it out from my roof in the evening with two lenses,
and an OM1 with the mirror locked up, and long exposures (5-10 seconds), I
noted the following:
With a Vivtar 600mm Solid Cat, I was unable to get a sharp image.
With a Zuiko 300 4.5, things were better, but not good enough,
When I used my big Bogen tripod, I got sharp images from both.
However, in more 'normal' situations, that is, shorter lenses and
exposures, I have been very pleased with the Gitzo setup.
Regards,
Denton
