Small addition:
If you can live with shutter times up to 1/8s, a 1 megohm logarithmic
potentiometer will do fine. Alternatively you could take a 10
Meg-log-potmeter, but then the shortest exposure times will be very
difficult to set. In each case put a 7.6K resistor for the starting
value in series with the potmeter!!
If you want all times... yes, then you will need discrete value
resistance and a good 12 position rotary switch (or, now I come to
think of it, one 100k and one 10M pot in series might do well...)
