After Tomoko has tabulated the survey and summarized the result, and
BEFORE she submits it to Olympus in Japan, I hope she would share the
findings with us first.
Important statistics like total number of people responded (and their
profile) and how many yes/may-be/no within it, could be useful for the
OM Marketing department because they can then guess-timate how many such
units can be sold.
Of course, the OM Engineering and Manufacturing Departments should be
able to estimate the development and manufacturing costs of various
*wish list* features.
And the OM top Management would then be able to make some decision about
the worth of such a venture/project - to resurrect OM. As we all know,
the bottom line in any decision for any company in business is profit,
and always!
If the petition is very well done (to a professional level and in
Japanese business people's language and terminology), the OM people in
jp would be more likely to listen. Who knows, the OM management might
even (quietly - Japanese style) initiated an internal task force study
again into this possibility because of this petition.
If not, the petition could very possibly meet with a very courteous *big
smile, thank you (and nice try)*, and will be quietly dispatched to a
Black Hole.
