Greetings, There are 6 Olympus Pen digital cameras in my house, a
mixture of E-Ps - E-PLs , 4 are my own & the remaining 2 owned by my
Wife & Daughter.
The borrowing of my lenses is a regular occurrence & as we know the
standard 14-42 kit lens is not the most sturdy item & a number of these
haven’t lasted the pace which
is the reason for the regular borrowing episodes.
I decided to indulge myself with a new lens the YONGNUO YN17mm F1.7 Auto
Focus, my plan was put this on the 'NO BORROW' list but there's a
spanner in my plan.
The recessed hole in the lens mount seems to be either too shallow or
too narrow & doesn’t allow the spring pin in the camera mount to fully
protrude & activate the sensor
which results in a black LCD screen.
This only happens with 3 of the Pens whilst 3 work fine.
It's a physical defect in the lens mount but the seller & manufacturer &
referring me to a comparability list which only lists the newer Olympus
& Panasonic cameras, this is BS
of course because the M4/3 standard is a universal design or is supposed
to be.
My question to the group is can this spring pin on the camera mount be
disabled in the menu? I have the tools & expertise to remedy the lens
myself but that would be the last
resort.
