I continue editing my hundreds of photos from the trip to Puerto Rico that just
ended (I came home on Friday evening). The island is obviously a special place
for me. My wife is from there, we were married there in 1983, so our children
are half-Puerto Rican and identify with the island (as well as with Poland,
Denmark and a bunch of other places). I have often said that if I were ever to
move back to the US (not in the cards, purely hypothetical), Puerto Rico would
be the place.
We went there to spend time with my wife’s ageing parents but we also had
plenty of time to explore in our rented car. I am organising my photos into a
few galleries, the first of which I posted the other day, focusing on the
Caribbean art I saw. Now I am sharing my photos from San Juan, the capital
city. Most visitors stick to the Condado beach hotels and Old San Juan, but the
city has a lot more to offer. Hence, a rather large gallery of 94 photos, from
Old San Juan, Trujillo Alto (where my sister-in-law lives), Río Piedras (site
of the main campus of the University of Puerto Rico which my wife attended),
the cool neighbourhood Santurce with a nice square called La Placita lined with
bars and restaurants, and my first visit to Piñones, a seaside area full of
roadside bars and restaurants serving inexpensive and tasty foods.
It’s all here:

And as always, comments and critique are welcome and appreciated.
