I've read through that DP Review thread several times and from what I
understand:
* The focus differential you set for FS is not a fixed value but is modified by
the camera depending on aperture (and presumably focal length)
* The focus differential you set for FB is a fixed value and is not modified by
the camera depending on either aperture or focal length
Is this correct? I found the posters explanation somewhat confusing.
Wish I could help, but it's been too long since I did my testing - and it appears that my recollection of the results is
wrong. See below.

It's clear, however, that the focus in the second photo in each of my FS sequences moves towards the camera (and goes
out of focus). After that, the next photo reverts to the initial focus. Subsequent photos show the focus gradually
moving away from the camera.
As I said above, it seems my recollections are wrong. It's been quite a few years. It doesn't matter to me, as I chose
techniques that have resulted in hundreds of good stacks.
I don't even have an E-M5 II in the house. I still own one in theory, which was loaned to a student child of a friend
for a photography class. They just graduated, so I may see it again, or not.
I'm not going to do re-evaluation, anyway. 😁 If it comes back, straight in the
KEH pile it goes.
