. . . In all honesty, the E-M1ii is a fantastic camera in just about every way

Noted some weird chroma noise in Marnie's astro HHHR shot. It was greenish not
magenta in the sky. Took me over 45 min to ameliorate with gradient masks. It
was still better than 10 shot stacked shots with 10 dark frames though.
Perhaps the new guy will be better yet if they get rid of the odd color cast.
Doesn't look like 2 stops better in the below informal tests but it is better.

This is tricky business, comparing two quite different sensors.
I've been noodling around with it, and have as yet to attain any sort of global
conclusion. Some bits and pieces.
Deep down in the shadows, ISO 200, the OM-1 does indeed whup the E-M1 II.
ISO 6400: Middle tones, normal exposure, there is little to choose in noise 'tween the two. But the noise is different.
Edges such as text are clearer, amid the noise, on the OM-1.
ISO 3200: OM-1 has slightly less noise and distinctly better detail resolution. OM-1 has slightly more noise than ISO
1600 E-M1 II, but retains slightly more fine detail.
ISO 1600: OM-1 has less noise and distinctly better detail resolution. OM-1 has slightly different noise, but about the
same as ISO 800 E-M1 II, and slightly better detail.
ISO 800: Different noise and detail, but a toss-up. OM-1 wins on noise, E-M1 II by a nose on detail. I wonder if this
exposure was flawed in focus or movement.
ISO 400: OM-1 leaps ahead on everything.
My tentative conclusion is that the OM-1 is about a stop better below ISO 6400. for ordinary use, I've set my µ4/3
bodies with an ISO cap of ISO 1600. I'll initially be using ISO 3200 for the OM-1.
Shadows, tripod HR, OM-1 stomps Sony A7R II.
