I used to deride monopods, because it's another bit of kit to carry around, and
it doesn't really do the job of a tripod. The worst of both worlds!
But then, I got IBIS. And a heavy lens.
Since, with IBIS, I don't need a rock-solid support, I now use the monopod
quite a bit with bigger lenses. Including the OM Zuiko 350/2.8.
