Chugach Mountains. Eagle River Nature Center. Alaska. Photo taken with
the Olympus E-1 and 12-60 SWD lens. 5-image (handheld) HDR processed
in Adobe Lightroom.
There is one thing the E-1 does exceptionally well and that's
bracketing. While most of the Olympus pro-grade cameras have this
feature, the E-1's operational ergonomics of the function is pure
gold. Place the camera's shutter on sequence, press the bracket button
and spin a wheel to the desired bracket setting. 5 frame with 1 stop
interval is one click one way, OFF is one click the other. To take the
picture(s), just press and hold the shutter release and the camera
rips off all 3 or 5 frames of the bracket and stops. Also, it
incorporates any exposure compensation already dialed in and shows the
combined exposure adjustments on the scale.
For this picture, I processed the key frame as a comparative, and it
was nearly identical, but the HDR was cleaner and has slightly more
contrast punch across the entire spectrum. Regardless, the E-1 images
require almost no adjustment in Lightroom, but arrive ready to go.
