OK, Mike has moved on past the Palouse. He has also succeeded in shaming me into processing the Palouse photos from our

 Sixth pic is Steptoe Butte*, which provides a broad view over much of The Palouse very different from ground level. Most 
shots after that are from the top of the butte. I liked getting a sort of overview, which I tried to show part of in the 
panorama from up there.
 There's just something about The Palouse . . . I don't yet know if posting these will lead Carol to forgive me for 
"Stopping every ten feet" and driving her mad, or be reminded how bad it was. 😁
 Somewhere between highway 99 and I-5, north of Sacramento, there is a much smaller area very reminiscent of the Palouse.
