Well, that last sentence gives it away :) We live in the boonies...signal-wise. The antenna was very useful up until
they "improved" the signal by going digital. Now we use it for the local PBS channels which broadcast from a hill on
the neighboring island. The rotator died a while ago so I don't know if anything else is available.
My ancient big antenna works flawlessly for OTA. All the major networks have their local outlets on the same tower in
SF. Don't even need a rotor. As you say, the VHF part is just decorative now 😉 but easier to let alone than change.
