There are still a few around like us. I keep my 1994 Chevy S-10 club
cab pickup running in order to have a backup. I put a new battery in it
earlier this year, and gassed it up this week for the first time in six
months. It is handy for visiting drive-through windows at Wendy's and
CVS, because it gets me up higher than my 2007 Volvo. I occasionally
get the oil changed, but the mileage is so low that I get the feeling
the mechanics put my used oil aside to use in their own vehicles.

My 2000 Toyota pickup was giving me clear unmistakable messages that I
need to do a tune-up and oil change. The last place I was able to get the
plugs I prefer no longer sells parts, just service. So I ended up buying those
on evilBay. This morning I went shopping for oil and filters.
I was lucky to find any 20W-50W (Valvoline), and the 5-20 they now have
is something I would consider only if I was in Alaska. And you can forget
finding Fram filters anywhere. So, yet another evilBay purchase.
I have a clear vision of the future, where people such as me with older
vehicles will be wandering through junk yards draining crank cases for engine
oil.
Fortunately, bicycle parts are readily available, even for the 40+ year
old bikes that I have.
