Upon closer inspection, I think what I saw was some slight obscuring caused by an extreme shift of the sensor. Further testing has just shown classic lens vignetting that seems to be relatively easy to address. I'll keep an eye on this. I'm reminded just why I happen to like the 24/2.8 so much. It is one bloody sharp lens. Great contrast. It feels right at home on the Sony.
