Perhaps you are confused by the different meanings of the word in economics and
law, vs. in left leaning rhetoric?
To many of my friends and acquaintances, "monopoly" and "very large company"
are close to synonymous.
This from a guy who used to calculate Herfindahl indexes of market concentration for a very large company. (BTW, if you
look it up, it sounds simple; much trickier in practice, with slithery numbers.)
