Hi Peter,
My i5 (3rd-gen) laptop hit its 6th birthday and I felt it was time to
splash out and replace it. With Win10 I found 8GB was not enough to have LR
and PS running at the same time so about 3 years ago I had upgraded to
16GB. I had a serious hard disk issue a couple of years back and replaced
that with an SSD. Those upgrades kept it fairly speedy but I passed it down
the food chain to replace my wife’s ancient machine and got myself an i7
(10th gen) 16GB, 17” replacement.
This places PC hardware amortization costs on a similar level to Adobe
taxes which seems reasonable.
i would stay on Win7 until you want to treat yourself to a new box.
