There are a number of reasons to envy those who live in countries with a
single-payer health care system, such as Canada, Britain, France... One of
those reasons is a lack of enrollment ads.
I tried watching a fairly interesting scifi movie (Alien Hunters), only to
watch five minutes or so of the movie and then five minutes of mostly Medicare
enrollment ads. I ended up going to evilBay and buying a DVD of the movie as
my mental health is worth something.
Early this month I tried getting information about a dental care
supplement for my medicare. After waiting more than two weeks for it to
arrive, I hacked their website and found it myself. It was stored as a file
with a name that wasn't at all similar to the document name, with a link that
was equally unrelated. In such a highly competitive market you would think
they would be shoving it down your throat instead of concealing it. It did,
however, prove to be worth the effort as it was a comprehensive plan at a
surprisingly low cost.
It might be that their website was written by a grade school computer club.
