I spent quite a bit of time cleaning my original 5D sensor. I used Eclipse
cleaning fluid (methanol).
https://photosol.com/products/eclipse-optic-fluid/
and some PEC*PADs. I wrapped pecpad around plastic credit card, cut to the
size of the sensor.
With some fluid applied to the pads I would wipe from one side to the other in
one single motion.
Then check for spots again with high F-Stop. The Canon had a fairly thick
anti-alias filter, so needed the high F stop to see. This happened because some
shutter lubricant splattered onto the sensor after I had left the camera in a
hot car, then took some shots.
That website says that pec*pads are not recommend for cleaning sensors. They
recommend the sensor swab. With the 5D I was cleaning the AA filter, so can't
recommend this procedure.
The methanol evaporates quickly. I may have some of the swabs, they did not
work as well for me.
The methanol may have shipping restrictions.
