There are two other disturbances along the ITCZ near the Cape Verde
Islands, both of which are lows associated with tropical waves. Historically,
storms originating from that area tend to become major hurricanes in the
Carribean, Gulf of Mexico, and Atlantic coast. The sea surface temperatures
along that path are about normal, but there is a lack of upper atmosphere
shearing winds.
