When we lived in France I would go to the nearby pâtisserie in the morning
and buy a couple of baguette while they were still warm. On the way home I
would tear off an end and eat it for breakfast. Numerous people could be seen
doing the same on bicycles, with the baguette sticking upright in the paniers.
