It's important to be able to tell what sort of bears are in the vicinity. You
can do this by examining scat.
Black bear scat has berry seeds and occasionally, small vertebrate bones.
Grizzly bear scat smells of pepper spray and has little bells in it, with
occasional bits of rip-stop nylon.
