Keep me on the list for future notifications. As you know, I'd likely bring
some version of film capture gear plus my soon to be delivered A7r III. This
one took a bit more time than the OM to e-1 fence I straddled for so long
before biting the bullet. Bill Barber

Since it's been mentioned, maybe we can discuss options a little bit.

First of all, let's get something out of the way. Alaska is a HUGE
state and has innumerable things to see and photograph. If you aren't
careful, you'll spend your time stuck behind a windshield. It's best
to limit your scope to maximize enjoyment. Also, it is important to
consider that many have already been here and seen Homer and other
common destinations.

Several thoughts that I'd like to toss out:

1. The Anchorage metro is actually a good place to base out of.
Logistics are excellent and we open up a huge number of options for
day and overnight trips. Besides, I live here, so that gives us a
couple spare guest rooms.

2. Wrangell-St. Alias. I haven't been there yet, but it's been highly
recommended. It's a day drive east.

3. Denali. We could do that with a single really long day trip to the north.

4. Kenai Peninsula. Day trip to the south. May do an overnight.

5. Ferry boat trip to Valdez. One option there is to use that as part
of a driving loop combined with Wrangell.

6. Depending on how many there are of us... Fly around the region in a
Cessna 180. (The pilot/owner is a freshly retired 747 driver with
zillions of hours and years of experience flying back-country). He
knows the region and the best aerial photo opportunities.

7. BYOF (Bring Your Own Film). I've got a really awesome OM kit here
for anybody to use and enjoy. However, BYOD (Bring Your Own Digital).

8. September is likely the best time to do this trip if we do it this
year. The Schnozz B&B will have the spare rooms again (daughters in
college), the weather is nice but transitioning, the colors are
popping and the tourists are mostly gone. We're most likely to have
super clear days in September to see Denali.
