The DC-6 (C-118) that he and Truman had used earlier was almost cut up for
scrap. Out of curiosity a technician at Davis-Monthan AFB just happened to
look up the serial number of it just before it was to be cut up and luckily
saved it. It has since been restored and is on display at the Pima Air Museum.
