> How many OM Listers will be able to take in the total solar eclipse in
> a week?
We’re visiting a son in Newport, Oregon, and should get about two minutes of
totality.
I’m bringing three telescopes and tripods, and have ordered solar safety film,
which should arrive there Thursday. I’m planning to polar-align the big
Celestron C-8 (2000mm f10) and motor-drive it. The smaller Celestron C-90
(1000mm f11) and Bausch & Lomb 100mm (800mm f10) will have to be manually
tracked. The OMZ 500/8 Reflex will be on standby. I haven’t really made plans
on what to do with cameras, yet.
I might stuff the OM Zuiko 600/6.5 in the car, but with a daughter and two
grandkids totalling six years old, there won’t be much extra camera-gear space.
And of course, the waist-pack with the EM1.2 and lenses from 7mm to 500mm will
be there.
There’s a 36% chance of cloud cover. So it’s primarily a family visit, with the
moon-sun as a welcome visitor, if she-he shows up.
