New tubes may require some hours of burnin to stabilize the lamp
operation. As long as the tubes run fine next time you turn them on this
should be okay.

I've just replaced the electronic ballast in a 4 tube (T8 tubes) overhead
fixture. When I first turned it on, both ends of the tubes came on full blast,
however the center section of each was more of a pulsating purple light. After
about ten minutes this pulsating thing went away and the tubes are now doing as
they should. Is this normal? Both ballast and tubes are new. Bill Barber
